Hi,

I’m trying to set up my RTK Mosaic-X5 as an NTRIP server, but I’d prefer it to have a static IP.

It’s for a field application where I don’t consistently have a DHCP server available.

I set the Ethernet config in the Mosaic-X5 web config to static with my desired IP address and subnet, but this setting does not seem to persist after reboot. The greyed-out data is there, but the Mosaic is set back to DHCP mode.

Is there a trick to keeping it in static IP mode? The OLED display makes me think it’s being reset to DHCP on boot, independent of storing Mosaic X5 settings to the Boot Configuration.

Thanks!

Dan

Hi Dan (@zimmerman-pliant ),

Welcome!

Are you using Mode 2 - WiFi? If so, then yes, the ESP32 firmware will always set the X5 Ethernet port to DHCP.

If you’re using Mode 1 - Ethernet, the ESP32 should leave the X5’s Ethernet settings unchanged.

Please let us know which Mode you are in, and which version of the ESP32 firmware you are running. The version (and Mode) will be shown on the OLED briefly at startup, you may need to take a video to capture it. They’re also printed to the CONFIG ESP32 serial console at startup.

The Ethernet settings are saved by the X5. You don’t need to copy the Configuration (from Current to Boot) to save them, it’s done for you. You can confirm the settings with the lstInternalFile,Ipparameters command.

Let us know your Mode and version and we can chat more about this,
Paul

Yes, I was in Mode 2. I had initially ignored the WiFi tab in the documentation as I thought the device would default to Mode 1.

But, you’re right, the OLED showed Mode 2 and ESP32 firmware version of 1.0.5.

I’ve resolved the issue.

I connected to the Config ESP32 port via serial per [https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun\_RTK\_mosaic-X5/quick\_start/?h=mode#wifi](https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_mosaic-X5/quick_start/?h=mode#wifi)

and ran set –mode=1

That left me in DHCP with an address of 0.0.0.0. To resolve that, I connected my USB to the Config Mosaic port to get the virtual network adapter and navigated to [http://192.168.3.1](http://192.168.3.1/) to toggle the static IP config back on.

Now I’m getting my desired static IP on the main ethernet port and it persists through reboots.

Thanks for the help!

Dan
