After using the TX2 for one day I would have totally paid the extra $150 for the tilt option if it existed in the TX2 as it did in the old Torch and does in the FP units. If it is released and is reasonable to add in the future I will do it. It is such a time saver compared to getting the bubble level straight every time. I think it’s a real miss to not have that option on this otherwise great unit. Just make it an option so if someone doesn’t want it they can skip it to keep the cost down as was mentioned was the purpose of not including it, but it definitely needs to be an option. That’s the only thing about this unit making me think twice about not getting an Emlid or something else. Everything else seems awesome.
This is good feedback. While we don’t have plans to add tilt back to the TX2 line, we will certainly consider it in the future.
If you do please message me and I will get it. I would also be happy to field test it. I can see anyone using this type of rover unit virtually NEEDING tilt comp for actual field work. Lack of it is a detriment to productivity in the field.

There are Pros and Cons of course.
I see Tilt Compensation (in general) as introducing the possibility of both Random and Systematic Errors for no reason. I personally think It’s a “solution” looking for a problem. Some people claim Tilt Comp is great, but they still turn it OFF when a position matters to them :
If a point matters to me, I will take the 5 seconds to plumb the rod (most shots). If it’s just a natural ground shot on a ToPo, then I’m not overly concerned with a perfect bubble. So we could say Tilt Comp could be beneficial for ToPo, but you need to fiddle with it to turn it on/off in the field workflow.
Naturally, these are just my personal opinions. There’s no harm in having the capability, but please don’t think that you are missing out on much.
