Full disclosure, I am new at this. Lots of years of engineering and using surveyors. Just starting up doing bathymetric surveys.
I am trying to fire up my Torch per the instructions with my iPhone and SW Maps. After connecting the bluetooth, I carry it outside and the satellite indicator blinks red. The status shows no satellites. This is repeatable.

I will eventually be using Hydromagic software on a tablet. I need all the help I can get.

Can I please check, do you have the original Torch? Or a TX2?
If the satellite indicator is blinking orange, that is just the Pulse Per Second from the GNSS chip, indicating it has a fix.
If you can, please post some screenshots from SW Maps. A shot of the GNSS Status window would be very helpful. (You might be limited to one image per post. Please feel free to add multiple posts.) (If you don’t want to make your location public, please feel free to obscure your location, or send the shots in a Private Message instead.)
